What size are the mower blade spindel bolt head, to remove blades? Book says 30.2, but have a 30mm and won't go on. Also have a 1 1/2" and its to big. A 31mm would be about right, but don't seem to make one. Will 1 3/16 work? Its about same as 30mm. I am tired of fighting trying to hold a wrench on top spindel nut and bottom blade bolt and hold a board in deck to keep blades from turning, all at same time. I need a impact socket, what the devil size will work? Thanks hjt

I was thinking I used 30mm for mine. Sometime they get a little gunked up with grass and you have to clean them off.

1 3/16" is 30.2 mm (actually 30.16)
.2 mm is only .008" so most 30mm sockets will probably fit.
So for a change, looks like everyone is right including the book!
Well, that certainly is strange, because a 30mm will absolutely not fit on mine, and I bought it brand new, so should not be cobbled up by someone. Guess will pull one of them off and try to find some that do have 30mm head. hjt

Just try a different 30 mm socket. Not all sockets are manufactured to the same clearance. Or just get a 1 3/16" socket.

I use a 1"3/16 12 point socket. Just took mine off the other day to sharpen them.
I pulled one out and checked across the flat sides with set of dial calipers and it measued 1.200 one side and 1.198 on another side. Didn't measure the third side. A 1 3/16 is 1.1875. Hope it will be big enough. Will be getting one friday and see if it fits. hjt
