I used our small Stihl 025C to cut the easy to reach pieces and then split by hand.

Then we used the tractor to pull out logs. here my wife is using a timberjack to hold up the log while she cuts.

We put our daughter to work splitting wood. Wasn't very effective as she doesn't weigh much more than the splitting axe.

We rented a splitter to make the job easier on my daughter. The umbrella is not part of the splitter. we set it up to keep her cool.

This is me helping to feed the splitter. I am using a pulp hook. It is a great aide for tossing wood around.

The grapple load shoud be about 7 - 8 cords. We have about 2 cords left to cut and split. The splitter was a rental for one day only so most has been done by hand.
It is a great way to spend some time with the family.

Man, you all get serious with that firewood production. Do you heat your home exclusively with firewood? How does the cost of purchasing (I assume you do) the wood, equipment, and splitter rental, compare to the cost of other sources of fuel?
