Mini Skid Steer

The diameter of the wheels for the tracks on some of these machines isnt very big so the bearings may be more prone to getting dirt in them because they arent that far off the ground.

My neighbor has one, I will get the name and model after work today. It's an excellent paperweight, any paper trapped underneath it doesn't stand a chance of flying away until he figures out how to fix that stupid thing. Biggest equipment regret of his life. He owns all Bobcat branded stuff and I mean nice stuff and maintains it... wanted this for doing easy stuff around the house so he didn't have to bring the Bobcat skidsteer home from work. Buy once, cry once brothers.

Go ahead and buy a ChiCom piece of garbage. Run it until it craps out on you. Come back on here and belly-ache about how much of a piece of garbage it is. We can always use more threads like those.

That was uncalled for.

BTW, based on a recommendation on this site I purchased a "Chicom piece of garbage" chainsaw sharpener from Vevor for $80 two years ago and it seems to work just as well as the Oregon 410-120 it copied. Saved over $140. Sometimes good enough is good enough. I buy from Horror Freight for the same reason.

But back to the issue at hand:

On the weekend we traveled 220 miles to see a guy who is importing these and mini-ex's from China. He reports very few issues, but he has no spares of anything. His price on the mini-skid was $4800 and no sales tax. It was jerky in operation but seemed to run well.

I have decided not to purchase the imported mini-skid steer. I appreciate all those who offered constructive advice.

My little side business cannot justify the risk of a getting a lemon. I had a good year this year and next year I may get a small tractor like the TYM T25 to augment the LS. The tractor will offer more flexibility and safety than a mini-skid steer.

MossRoad has a PT425 that he likes a lot. These things turn in small spaces exceptionally well, but don't tear up the turf like a skid steer. The disadvantage is there is no dealer network so you buy direct from Power Trac and have to do your own mechanical work or find a hydraulic shop if it comes to it. T8 Class. Also, it has a gas Kohler engine rather than a diesel, but as far as 25hp gas engines go, that's still likely one of the best ones.

Picked A ton of lime right after I got her ! Has been an amazing machine. Rarely fire up my tractor anymore. Not a cheap date but I would do it again in a minute!

A mini skid steer can do some work but I wouldn’t get a China one.
