Front-End Loader Push Broom ?

I have a JD 3320 and am brand new to both this forum and owning a tractor. The 3320 has a 300CX front end loader. I own a bucket and a set of forks. I'd like to buy or build a simple non powered broom which I could use to sweep off my asphalt drivway of yard waste. I don't want to purchase a power broom as I have too many other attachments with a higher priority on my "bucket" list.

Two questions .

1. I have not found a "broom" to attached to a FEL does such a product exist ?

2. I was thinking that I could purchase (2) industrial 60" broom heads, attach them together with a pipe and then use a strap to attach arround the bucket. Seems simple enough.

Any comments on either of these ?

Signature line as follows: JD 3320, CX300 FEL, Bucket and forks, Howse 5' Brush Hog and in spite of my best efforts nothing broken, no crashes, and I still have all my limbs....Although I have come close ....

Just curious. Why not use a leaf blower?

I can't recall ever seeing anything like what you want. I suspect that on anything less than a perfectly flat and level surface that you would not be able to keep a consistent pressure on the broom. Without a consistent pressure things would slip under the broom to easily. You do have a "float" function on your loader but it would transfer all the weight of the loader and bucket onto the broom head. Just my thoughts and there are many others on the forum that are much better builders than I. Keep us up to date if you fab something up.

about your broom issue:

Biuld a narrow rectangular frame from 4 by 4 stock to mount heavy casters on first.

Then you can install the broom within the frame and the casters will reduce premature wear on the bristles.

You could place a number of the brooms together in the frame to make a big scrub brush so to speak and move them dowm as they wear over time-without the casters you will crush the bristles without realising it.

Gemplers and Norther tool have the brooms you can mount on forklifts I believe-if you have a set of forks.......
same issues with premature wear etc.

Why a non powered broom? A couple of thoughts...

1. If you have an aux hydraulic outlet you could rig up a hyd motor and chain drive broom without too much of an effort.

2. You could make a powered broom driven by two sets of rubber wheels (wheels like this obtained fairly cheap at Tractor Supply). Make an axle that attaches to and fits underneath the bucket. When the loader/bucket is in float it would rest on these wheels which are the drive wheels. Attach the broom sections to another axle mounted to the bucket in front of the drive wheel axle with the outboard driven rubber wheels in contact with the drive wheels. When the tractor drives forward, the drive wheels turn forward while the driven wheels and broom turn backward accomplishing the sweeping action.

I have what you are referring to.It's called a sweep ex broom.Mine is set up for 3pt but they make different hook ups even ones for the front of a pickup truck.Sorry for the washed out color,fluorescent light in the shop.This one is the pro 720,they make different Quality ones from the economy ones up to "mega broom" I think.One thing though,they are very well built and very pricey,this pro one is over 1200 new I think,I got mine used for 150 though,pretty good score.Oh and all the different attachment brackets fit all the broom's.

I never knew anything like that existed...that would be pretty easy to make yourself.

I had the same thought a few years ago. Before I got a tractor, I used my 4-wheeler for a lot of stuff. I thought it would be handy to put a couple of brooms on the bottom of my snow plow that is operated by a winch. I wanted to use this to sweep out my barn. I was less than impressed with the way it worked. It just did not sweep well at all no matter what I tried.
