When purchasing used hydraulic equipment (a Gannon 4x2 boxblade with two cylinders) do I just connect it up and get busy or is there anything I can or should do about the hydraulic fluids in the used equipment?

If it's been sitting outside might contain water. If it's been used regularly, stored inside take a chance & plug & play.

Flushing a couple of cyls and lines won't take much if it looks questionable.

I would flush the old fluid out unless you know who owned the implements. Just remove the hoses from the cylinders and manually cycle them.

I believe that I would flush them out. But I would just remove the QD and flush it that way. You can control where the oil goes more easily. If the oil looks good then I would not worry about what is left in the lines and in the cylinders. ;) If it does not look good then pull the lines and clean them out too. In that case you would want to do a more thorough cleaning anyway.:(
