There is going to be a lot of gas wells drilled in my area and I am told they are planning to place a pumping station nearby. Does anybody have any idea of how much noise these pumping stations make? Is there a rule about how close they can place a pumping station to a home? I believe the pumping station is going to be about 1500ft. from my home. I am living in a rural area that is quiet. Thanks for any advise.

The noise will depend on the size and design. Most try and be as inoffensive as possible. Flare stacks can be noisy but that would only be an occasional event.

Unfortunately, the amount of annoyance depends on whether or not you are sharing in the revenue.

There is a new well being drilled within 2500 feet of my house which we can hear at night. My only problem with it is that no one has asked to lease MY land. However the drilling activity does seem to be moving in my direction.

It depends on the size of the pumping station. 1,500 ft will be miserable and not too safe if it is a large one. I live about 2 air miles from a large one, I hear it at night , but not loud 2 miles away. Except when they do a burnoff or something, then it is noticable even indoors.
