I do it all the time on our 9 acre lake, 17' bassboat with a 150hp and no problems
Nice, I assume with the L2800?
You ever consider a front mount trailer hitch for your F250? Friend of mine's dad had one. It was great for maneuvering trailers around as you can see it right there in front of you. Rear tires never went in the water, staying on dry ground.
By the way, a local marina owner got hurt real bad last spring when launching a boat with their tractor (which is an old farm tractor, likely without any safety features). He was all by himself. The coupler popped off the ball, and the guy hopped off the tractor to try and save it. Lord knows what he thought he could do, and in worst case the boat would have splashed in and floated. As it turned out, the trailer turned sideways and stopped on the ramp. Anyhow, the tractor ran over the guy and he woke up a half hour later and and a hard time reaching help by phone since his right arm no longer worked. They flew him to the hospital, and he is lucky to still be with us -- the tractor crushed part of his spine. He's going through lots of physical therapy to get use of his right arm back.
