Tractor
Kubota B3300SU
Sooo.....After agonizing for the better part of a year, looking at Craigslist til I was just about blind, looking at used machines, comparing .......

I filled out the credit ap, and my semi-local Kubota dealer will be delivering a new B3300su to my house a week from Thursday.

I'm like a little kid. Very excited. Soo many things I've wanted to do, but needed a machine.

Kubota financing made it tough to walk away....0% for 7 years??? Uhhh....ok!!

Wondering if anyone here has same tractor, and if they might have any advice or input. Only accesory I bought was B76 backhoe, came with LA504 loader. Toying with adding quick connect to bucket, and forks. Seem like big $, but would get well used.

I saw an ad on TV from NH offering both 72 and 84 months at 0% as well. I figured the others would also be matching that offer.

Congrats on the new tractor but is doesn't count until you post a picture once you get it.

0% for 7 years ......... there's either a **** of a lot of profit , or the
Company is trading in the red .

Since this a comment that is often posted, I will copy the following into a new thread:

If you figure that typical interest would be compounded annually and the annual rate might be in the range of 7%-10% ... the comparable effect if they charged interest but lowered the price would be a price reduction of about 13%-16%. The volume of this promotional/financing activity represents less than 1% of Kubota's annual operating expenses. Unfortunately, the money that makes it possible to offer 0% comes from a different source than what it would take to make it possible to just lower the price at the dealership; besides, it is the specific goal of Japanese monetary policy to keep prices stable (not discounted).

Manufacturers of heavy equipment typically have 10%-30% (depending on competition and inflationary/deflationary pressures) margin on sales (operating "profit" that is pretax, pre-amortization, pre-interest). In looking at Kubota's financial filings for 2010 that analyze 2009, there was approximately 20% and 30% decline in demand for equipment under 40HP and over 40HP, respectively.

Kubota had approximately a 7.5% operating profit. This rate includes the cost of the "zero interest" promotion. In my judgment, there is neither high profit built into the tractor nor is there a relatively high cost of this promotion.

Disclaimers:
(1.) I only spent a few minutes looking over a 100 page report, so I may have made mistakes or not have been thorough.
(2.) Kubota shareholders are dominated by Japanese banks (at least 30% of total ownership), and the Japanese government still has large ownership stakes in these banks as a result of Japan's own bank failure and prolonged recovery of the 1990's. This promotional/financing activity is wholly owned activity of Kubota, but I suspect that the availability of such cheap debt is a pass-through of the nearly 0% interest that is and has been available to/from the shareholders/government for nearly 14 years of their economic recovery.

Mike, Congratulations. I bought my first tractor recently too. I was like a little kid and I was very excited too - truth be told - I still feel like a little kid and have a tough time working my day job - all I can think about is my orange toy!! It is a total blast. I hope your tractor brings you an equal amount of happiness/enjoyment!

Good luck! Enjoy!!

Don't forget to post pics as soon as possible... ;)

Thanks for the responses! Funny how many times I've seen the "My tractor is being delivered on day X" threads and thought *sigh* wish that were me...lol.

I never posted in the newbie thing so....I'm a career firefighter, 43 years old, but I was a carpenter/ builder for 18 years before the fd. So...I still build a house or two a year to keep busy on my days off. This tractor should be a huge boon for some of the things I need on sites, but mostly I'm buying it to play on 8 wooded acres that I live on. Lots of projects planned...can't wait!!

Couple general questions I figured I would throw out there;

I don't get the machine til next Thursday, so I'm toying with adding a couple things. Any opinions on loaded tires? Also thinking of adding the quick connect bucket and getting the forks....Think I would use them a TON, from moving palletized firewood to lumber and material on sites. Big $ tho. However, Big $ divided by 7 years at 0%= Mike smiling....

Also looking at trailers. Anyone here haul a tractor the size of a B3300 in a dump style trailer? Thinking it would be a good combo for moving the tractor, hauling stone, mulch, trash and debris, etc. Wondering if there are any cons, besides the initial whack in the jimmies on price. Looked at 1 today, 14k GVW, will hold #9800, 6 yards. Powder coated frame and bod, elec brakes, all 10 gauge steel floor.etc. $7700. Equipment trailer- straight flatbed can be had for $4k. Any thoughts?

Love this site. Spending all my time trying to be patient waiting for Thursday...:licking:

First, congratulations, Mike.

The anticipation is actually part of the experience. Enjoy. Have your camera battery charged. It's pretty exciting, but do listen to the check list the driver will likely walk you through.

I hope the sun is shining bright on delivery day. It is a great day, for sure.

Would you like another picture of what delivery day looks like?:D

I have loaded tires or wheel weights on all my FEL equipped tractors and really like the QA feature also.

I don't know anything about the trailer.

Enjoy your tractor and keep a camera handy.

Congrats to your new machine.
Loaded tires are not a bad idea but you certainly want about 600-700 lbs of ballast on the hitch for the times when you will not have the hoe on the back of your tractor. Ballast box is easy to make, I sure wouldn't buy one. Just search here and you will see many home made ones that work very well. On that trailer only you know if the extra cost of the dump is justified for your need. It sure is nice tho.

When I go to Kubota's web sight it only says interest free for 60 months. Where did you find it interest free for 84 months? I might have to upgrade.

As it was told to me, it was an offer that Kubota made to dealers, and they had to pay for the opportunity. I didn't quite understand it, but he said that they were the only dealer around that was offering it. I looked at the same tractor in New Hampshire 3 weeks ago (no sales tax in NH) and I was never offered 7 years, only 5. I was unbelievable to me, too. I was prepared to put 10k down, (tractor with FEL and backhoe priced at $25,100). Salesman looked at me like I had 2 heads, and said, "I'll run the numbers with no money down, just in case you change your mind" Why use your own dough? I'll keep the 10k in savings, maybe a cd, and draw the payment out of that for a little over TWO YEARS!!

Now to decide on forks

So...three fork options........

1.) Keep Kubota bucket, get Kubota forks w/ pins, forget quick connect. Dealer says swap takes 20 mins.

2.) Aftermarket co quick connect kit; ATI makes kit, different bucket, 42" forks. This kit also makes it able to take other skid steer implements. Big(imho) money; $1,960

3.) Kubota kit. Keep original bucket, QC kit bolts on, 36" Kubota forks. Less $...$1,450. However, will not take other implements. I'm wondering what, besides maybe a root grapple, I would use?

Opinions?

I would get the Kubota bucket and forks. You can ad the grapple to the bucket. On the trailer with 10 gauge floor, I think it would need a lot of cross braces in the right places to keep the pressure of the tires pushing down in only 4 places from buckling the floor.
