Pulled the trigger today on a Duramax

makes me wonder what my 07 GMC SLE classic in Long bed Crew cab 4x4 LMZ 52kmilkes with $1200 dollars of brand new michelins ltx2's is worth. I dont drive it often and my needs now do not include this big of a truck. sell it or keep it forever?

I do need a truck but a gas 3/4 would do what I need.

I would sell it. That truck would bring $33,500 in my area. You can buy a new 1/2 ton loaded or a basic 3/4 ton gas and have a 2014 truck with no payment, loan, and much newer.

Exactly. If you don't need an HD truck anymore, I would capitalize on the high used market value right now and trade it / sell it straight up for something 1/2T, 2012-2014 with 30K miles or less that is loaded.

And gain a warranty.

And most likely, fuel mileage! :D

But many diesel truck owners claim 20+ mpgs, ya know! Right now my overhead says 19.4, but I know it is not telling me the truth!

20mpg at $4 fuel vs 20mpg at $3.30... it adds up! :)

Thanks

It is an LBZ and has everything minus leather and a sunroof. I've added a ton of stuff (firestone airbags, 5th wheel rails, LineX, Buckstop bumper $$$, aftermarket wheels, Cooper M/T tires). The truck has had covercraft seat covers and Fox weatherboot floor liners since it left the lot.

I'm considering a Ford V10 (2008-2010) because I rarely drive my Duramax. I actually just had the turbo replaced 2 weeks ago with a brand new stock unit because the vanes were froze up (carbon and rust).

Boy I gotta tell you that after having this thing one week, there is no way I will go back to a gas truck. If I wasn't towing heavy. I would go with something like the new mid sized Chev diesel Colorado. This 6.6 Duramax gets better combined, city, and hwy mileage than my 4.7L Toyota Tundra. Both are 4x4 4dr trucks, and the GMC probably weighs 2,000lbs more. I can only imagine what mileage a V10 gets, 8-10 maybe?

Sorry, like I said I won't go back. To me it's like when we towed a 5th wheel the first time compared to years of bumper pulls. It's a 5ver for me from now on. My wifes' 2005 Honda Accord will be replaced with a diesel, if I get my way.

Yea and that depends on where ya are. Here tonight 87 octane was $3.65 and diesel was $3.99, the 91 octane I used for towing is $3.89. The gap closes up real fast that way.

So lets see, pay $0.10 a gallon more for 3 times the towing power and 50% better mileage when towing. Hmmmmm which will I pick?
