Pull behind compact log skidders????

Hi All,

This may seem a bit different but I am looking for a log tong/grapple/log skidder that pulls behind on a hitch (not 3 point). I would want it hydraulic with an opening of up to 18". Does something like this exist to anyones knowledge?

Why Hydraulic? There are a number of log arches which would fit the bill except for the hydraulics. Some use a manual winch to raise the log, others raise it as you pull the arch forward. Several are designed for a hitch behind an ATV.

The hydraulic is probably not necessary. I have seen demonstrated a logging arch by Future Forestry Products (check on google) it will handle a log up to 24 ft long behind a 300 cc honda 4 wheeler. It has a boat type winch to haul the log up so its up off the ground. You can just run the 4 wheeler up next to the log then get off and throw the arch over the log or go a little past and back it up to the log. It sure looked easy

Don't forget you still need traction to pull that log. Might be OK on flat land or a light log but here in Ontario they have proved very frustrating unless the logs are short and light, in which case we just hook a chain to the log and hook it to a nylon rope behind the ATV.
