3-Point Hitch PTO shaft leak

I have the Hinomoto E 2004 and am trying to pull the flange off the pto shaft to repair an oil leak and found that the shaft wants to pull out also.I have removed the snap ring.I have a parts manual for the unit and saw that the end shaft is the extension shaft. My concerns are if I pull the shaft out will parts fall in the case? Thanks.
