Hello all, a quick question, when engaging the MMM on my BX2230 is it best to engage at a low throttle level or is it better to throttle up then engage?

Thanks

Mike

For stress reasons, engage at low speeds.

I engage mine at somewhere around 1/4 to 1/3 throttle, then feed in the RPMs smoothly to PTO speed (full throttle).

I have engaged it at full throttle, and it does seem to shock load the implement more than the tractor, but, I would agree that this probably isn't the best.

anything that has a cross bearing (universal joint) is best engaged at the lowest possible speed so the bearing isn't subjected to high shear loading. If you want your equipment to last, then always engage all accessories at the slowest speed and then bring them up to operational speed. You wouldn't rev the engine in your car and then drop it into drive and expect the transmission to last very long. Same principle for tractors and most any machinery.
