pto pump

If your hyd pump is designed to run at 1000, and you connect it directly to the 540 rpm PTO, it will work, but the hyd will be slower, and you will have the same power. You might could go through a gear box and match up the speed required on your haybine pump.

My Kubota has two speeds.

If i change out the 1000 pto pump with a 540 pump will the hydraulic motor on the haybine work at the right speed?

The hyd motor rpm is derived by the GPM's your pump can provide if it is a direct drive. If a gear box is involved, the rpm's will be what it is.

Here are two PTO pumps.

First pump puts out 11.4 GPM at 540 at ---18 HP

Surplus Center - 5.7 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-2AC PTO PUMP CI 540 RPM

Second pump puts out 22.4 GPM at 1000 PTO rpm at--34.3 HP

Surplus Center - 5.7 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-3AC PTO PUMP 1000 RPM CI

You need to match up the GPM required, from pump to motor.

Your tractor HP can can pump only so many GPM at a certain pressure.

For example,

10 GPM at 3000 psi will use about 21 HP.
