Pto issues wont turn on was running and stopped

Was using tractor ls xj2025h yesterday to do some tilling. Pto was running till was running everything working fine. Tiller unit was raised from ground so while I got ready to make next pass and then pto just shut down (switch still on). Now the pto just free spins rear unless selector is in middle position. Check fuse all good, fluid level good was changed 10hrs prior (190hr), no loose connection or damaged wires that ive found yet. Does anyone have any ideas.

Spoke with dealer and they seem to to not know and are 3 plus weeks out on getting it in. Would like to get this resolved faster then a month from now.

Does the light on the dash come on when you turn it on?

Yes light comes on on dash, safety switch working when no pressure on seat and pto selectors is on. Range selector moves as should.
Could pto selectors switch failure be cause? Happened late last night will meter out some things this evening just trying to get head start on where and what to look at.

You could test the wires on the switch. Jump them and see if that works.

Mine failed suddenly while mowing. Noticed a bit of acrid smoke odor. Turned out to be the solenoid coil on the side of the transmission. Twenty minute fix once I had the new coil in my hand.

Not sure if you have the same coil activation set up. Did you smell anything? Try it if you have time, turn the PTO button to on, wait a few seconds and sniff.

Do you currently have the pto hooked to an implement? If so, take it off and look directly at the shaft and turn it on at an idle. I'd hate to state the obvious, but I'm thinking maybe a sheer pin. Start simple, move towards the complicated.

You said you checked the fuses.

It could be the solenoid that Diggin It said, I'd check that too.

No leaks? No grinding or popping sound?

Not shear pin. Implement is off. Test switch and jumped it at trsctor connection. Pto doesnt even try to start.
Idk if the xj2025h have the solenoid coil. To me it seems electrical to just suddenly fail with no warning signs or what id consider abuse. Id say i maybe got 20hr of pto Implement operation bush hog and tiller.

THE ONLY THING that makes me think Mechanical is the pto shaft on tractor now free spins as before it would not. But to suddenly just shut off when was on and not in the ground. Also most of my stuff has slip clutch not shear pin.

I can't turn the PTO shaft at all, something inside must have let go. Can you find a parts symmetric?

These tractors use a electric over hydraulic PTO clutch. When you turn the PTO knob to On, it energizes a coil on the solenoid valve that will send fluid at a certain pressure and flow to the clutch pack inside the transmission. The PTO clutch pack has a spring actuated brake, so when the PTO is off, the brake locks the shaft so it can't rotate.

Unless the PTO selector lever is in Neutral or Mid only, it won't allow you to rotate the rear PTO shaft by hand.

Does the OP's tractor have a switch to change between Manual/independent and Auto? In Auto, the PTO will shut off automatically once the 3pt is raised and will turn on again once the 3 pt is lowered. Not sure if LS has this feature, at least on this model anyway.

Ok for clarification pto shaft does not move when tractor off and rear pto selector in rear position. The solenoid or brake it what i fear failed as once tractor is running/on pto spins with tractor engine even though pto selector is off. Turn selector on and no response.

As far as part schematic yea you can find em but few and far between.
