801 powermaster
I have rebuilt my pto shaft on my 801 powermaster. When installing it catches on the shifter and pulls it forward but will go no further. Should I remove the part it slides into?

Without more of a description or pictures it's a little hard to visualize what you are trying to do. Pictures would help the most.

It would be difficult to get pictures. The pto shaft inserts all the way to the final collar. I took the side plate off to make sure. The problem is when I attempt to make it go the final 6 inches, it carries the pto shifter with it and jams the shifter. I am wondering what I would encounter if I remove that final destination part. It is a big collar with the pto shift built into it. The shifter on the side slides something to engage. I thank you for your help

Yes it is. I have looked for hours trying to find that image. If you could please tell me the next steps. Thank you. I am in uncharted territory, at least for me.

Yes. It still catches on the shifter mechanism, pushes it forward. If I force it past this position, which is about an inch, it will go all the way in but then the shifter will not move.
