PTO help

Its been a while sence I been on here. I have a 86. Kubota L345DT. Had a problem with my pto. It wouldn't engage with out grinding. I been cutting of the tractor and engaging the pto and starting the tractor back up. Been working fine, but I loan it out and told/showed them how to do it.
Well now the pto lever is just floping around. It stripped out inside the tractor. The pto is engage. My ? is how do I repair it. Do the lever come out or do I have to break down/apart to repair. Guss now will be a good time to fix that clutch problem. Going to order a repair manual tonight. Any info,or suggusting would be appreciated.

it doesn't look like kubota has a online parts diagrams and part numbers, unlike nearly every major brand tractor out there.

shop manual is a good investment, if you are mechanically inclined and have the tools. shop manual should give you full diagrams, and detailed instructions of this or that spec and what to look for in trouble shooting.

on second thought i guess they do have online diagrams / part listings.

Hi Hazzmat - Check where the pto lever is pinned to the rod going into the case - is the rod turning with the lever? You might be able to look thru the fill plug hole to see what's going on inside. The rod reaches down to engage a slot on the gear on the bottom gear shaft, sliding it forward or back. Maybe the rod got bent or came out of the groove.

If you decide it's time to replace the travel clutch disk, it's really not a huge job. I've done two in the past couple years - L355ss and L3250. Does your L345 have a 1720 loader? Back when I had my first L345, Kub didn't offer a workshop manual for it in English. But the published factory illustrated parts manual like this one is great - much better copies of the drawings than K website's parts lists for the L345. Dick B
