PTO engagement

Need some advice from you guys. I am starting a small hay operation
just for our needs for a few horses and a couple beefs. I have all the
equipment in the shed waiting for spring. I have a very nice NH-68
that has been taken care of. The old baler looks like it has never sat out.
My worry is in the force in which the pto engages on my LS-5030.
The older tractors I have used the clutch could be slipped to ease the pto to engage. The system used on my tractor now is either in our out.
When engaging my six foot brush cutter, at idle, the the thing really
bangs the blades for a few seconds till they build speed.
Will the slip clutch on the old baler handle this, or is there something else I can do to slow the engagement.

You will be fine engaging at lower rpm with the pto set on independent. If that worries you, then you can switch the pto to manual then engage with clutch the same way you did with the other tractor.

I am going to hook the old baler up and do the adjustments so
it will set level to my tractor. When I do I will give it a try.
