PTO Coupler on auger keeps jumping off

I have a PTO auger shaft that has the slide type coupler with balls in it that lock onto the PTO shaft. It now comes off of the shaft fairly often when digging in soft soil that should be easy. We have used it quite a bit on my sons 25 hp tractor and now on my 39 hp tractor. My bush hog shaft has a spring loaded button you push down on and when the shaft is pushed onto the pto it locks on securely.
Can you buy just a replacement coupler for a pto shaft that is the old style?

I haven’t seen one alone at tractor supply Robb but I hesitate to say you can’t buy one. It would have to be welded on. But I would guess; if you would allow a guess, that the reason for coming off is this. The two part pto shaft is difficult to pull apart and it’s unhooking itself from the tractor pto. Maybe clean it with WD or something until it slides effortlessly. Have a Merry New Year

Unless you're very confident in your welding ability, take it to a
Drive Shaft shop. Most close to rural areas will work on Ag
equipment. They can/will replace the coupler and balance the
pto shaft. It's worth a few bucks to have a pro do the repair.

Juice it up with some WD40 and then work it on and off the shaft, repeatedly releasing the collar to get the balls to free up and fully lock in.

Bought one to replace a broken yoke on the bush hog.. should be able to find one to fit any shaft yoke:

You can also just consider buying a new PTO shaft on Ebay for less than $100 dollars depending on how it attaches to your auger.
I recently had to do that when the ball-type coupler on my generic bush hog went south. Most PTO shafts meet an industry standard, so I did not need to remove the old shaft at the mower end. I just slipped out the old tractor end and slipped in the new part (after cutting to length). Maybe your solution will be as simple.
