pto alarm???????????

yes.. my 5105 has this alarm.. but it is a fairly quiet beeping sound and it is delayed.. I have to stand up for a few seconds before it starts making noise..

I always (almost always) wear earplugs on the tractor.. trying to protect the hearing as long as I can.. So, the sound may be more annoying if I didn't have those.. but, the alarm ONLY sounds if I get up out of the seat..

good luck.. For what it's worth, I have a John Deere mower and "disconnected" the button you had to press to keep the blades activated while backing up.. Before I would have to "press" this button EVERY time I hit reverse, or the motor would die.... sheesh.. I know I am backing... I know I am mowing... thank you very much.. ha ha

Why dont you just bypass the seat switch? I recently recieved a piece of JD literature showing a man pushing dirt with an ATV and a blade. He was wearing gloves a helmet and goggles. Safety is good, knowledge is better.

My 5320 has the PTO alarm and when the seat is set to a weight of 215 lbs and one of my 170 lb boys start mowing the seat alarm will be too sensitive until they adjust the seat to their weight. I weigh 230 and keep the seat at 215 and seat does not bottom out but eliminates the alarm sounding. Just an idea if yours has the ajustable seat. This alarm will only sound for about 10 sec and go off if you are operating a generator, ect that you do not need to be in the seat.

On my old 4300 I put in a push to over-ride switch that as long as held down you didn't need to be in the seat.

Thanks a great idea!

There was a thread about another brand of tractor that had this sort of issue(it was actually a hydraulic shuttle going into neutral because of the seat alarm on downhill slopes).

The ultimate solution was to wear the seat belt. The belt provided enough downforce to keep the switch active. Upon wearing the seatbelt, the problem went away.
