I don’t think you need a lot of traction back draging, that’s for taking the imperfections out you couldn’t do going forward.

I think that's similar to adding weight to the rear of a 425 to be able to lift more. It puts additional wear on the center joints, and the wheel motor axles. Enough to cause premature failure? Who knows?I run chains year round. Mostly because I am lazy. They do help with traction, I do run lower pressure but with 8 wheels you notice you loose side slope traction quicker than running low pressure without. Now, one thing I will say is that I think the chains contribute to quicker wear and tear. Where once my tractor would slip and not engage it now engages fully putting non designed stress on stress parts. I don't want to call PT construction weak, but it is put together probably at the limit of its engine size. So when adding traction, you are adding wear.
I have broke my center section twice on this machine. I do abuse it, so I deserve what I get.I think that's similar to adding weight to the rear of a 425 to be able to lift more. It puts additional wear on the center joints, and the wheel motor axles. Enough to cause premature failure? Who knows?
