I used it today on wild rose bushes. Pretty tough stuff up to an inch thick. Used about 1/2 throttle and it tore right through it and chopped it up well. The blade is heavy, maybe 1/4" thick. I am sure it would handle pond reeds etc. I was very pleased.

I am going to build a small boom mower this winter to mow about 5/8 mile of steep road bank along our farm. I stumbled on this website on another forum.

Kind of crude looking but it is functional. The mower I am putting together (on paper right now) will have a split boom with two cylinders to raise and lower the boom and gib. Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but the web site is interesting anyway.
