protecting casted hand

two weeks ago i was in a relatively minor auto accident but broke my hand in two places- i am now in a cast from the palm of my hand to well below my elbow, and can resume woodworking and such. the question is how to protect my hand from finish, glue and getting saw dust in my cast. my wife got some nice oversized plastic bag gloves, but i just tried one- my hand was sweating in now time. I can get the cast wet. after i was done staining i pulled the glove and ran cold water on my hand. thank goodness the new style casts are fiberglass!

any ideas on a glove that would protect, but breath?

it's my right hand, and yup, i'm not a lefty!, but may be soon. My main concern is getting dust and wood chips i n the cast- four more weeks would not be fun with a picker like that.

I got by car back yesterday and all seems well, and i was the only injury- could have been much worse.

My first thought was to put a pillow case over it, but that's probably too big. Can you get a very large sock over it?

not a bad idea eddie- I was hoping for something that will allow me to use my fingers...

Eddie- you got it- at least pointed me in the right direction- cut the top off an old tube sock- it covers the top of the cast were I was most concerned about sawdust. I have been using some blue rubber gloves for gluing and finishing already- I can get one on over the cast, so live is once again good.


the rubber gloves have always been sweaty, but at least my arm is getting some air.
