Gosh no, the tracks you can see in the last pic are of the ATV. It's way too twisty for the truck.... I'd get hung up too. Man you 'Mericans have it good. A 2200 loadhandler here is $130 plus tax. Can't even get the 3000.

Oh buddy, I love shoveling. So much that I shovel it onto the truck, off the truck into the trailer, then again once it's dumped on the ground to spread it. Tons of fun. LOL

I've got three places to get the crusher dust; one that I have to shovel is about $17/t. The other two are about $37/t but they load it. I have grand ideas of a tow behind conveyor that would load my truck as I backed into the pile.... but it may stay as an idea. Honestly the cheapest way to go would be getting a tandem load dropped at my place then shoveling into the atv trailer. Cheaper, less shoveling, faster, no wear on my truck... It's just that $300 in one shot hurts more then $17 at a time.

$300 is for 12 yards. A yard is 1.5T, so 18 tons. $300/18T= $16.6/T. Huh. I'm transporting it for nothing... and shoveling it another time for no gain also.

Rock etc here is about $70 a yard if I pick up and they will load it.

San Francisco Bay Area.

Bit the bullet and ordered a tandem load of crusher dust. Stole the money from the S10 fund. :( Darn priorities and lack of funds. About 12 yards or 18t. 36 of my atv trailer loads. Should get a fair bit done. I'll try and get some video before the snow flies.

I guess I've used this thread to post pictures of my daughter.... so here are a couple of current pictures.

This was the morning of her 6th birthday party. I planted that tree along my driveway (along with 18 others) 9 years ago. It'll be fun to show her this picture when she's grown and the tree is too.

Her and mommy found this dress at a thrift shop and wanted to show me when I was at work. :)

You and your projects always amaze me!! I can't believe how much you get done with your ATV, homemade trailer and a shovel. You are one tough hombre'!!

Your daughter is a cutie! Enjoy her now! I miss my daughters being that age. They're 25 and 23 now.

I like that! Thanks Mark! I think of it as therapy. There's no stress when I'm working at it. No deadlines, no one looking over my shoulder. The harder I work at it, the more results I see.

Trust me; I spend as much time as I possibly can with her. I go to 95% of all activities, outtings, and birthday parties. I know her childhood will pass by in the blink of an eye, so I try not to miss any. :)

Got my load of crusher dust yesterday!

Moved 6 trailer loads; 3 on the driveway and 3 in the trail. About 6,600lbs. :)

Hope to leave work early so I can do it again today!

Another 6 loads yesterday; 1 on the driveway, and 5 on the trail. Looks to be about 1/3 of the load so my 36 load guess might be close.

I'm about half way to the berry patch! You can really see the difference between new layed and older that's been rained on. It's like walking on sand at first but packs pretty good with time.

So here's a question; Once the trail's done I'm confident in saying that vegetation will try to take over. There's two ways I could go; drive the ride on mover around to keep it cut down, or spray to kill things off. The first would probably leave two tracks with "grass" in the center and sides. The later would probably look better, but cost more.

Before I thought I'd grade it to keep growth down and keep things smooth, but I'm not sure that's the way to go. I'd probably rather one of the above two options and spot fill if needed.

With all the work you put into it, definitely go with option 2: spray it. That will keep it looking nice and free of vegetation. If you were to grade it, I think you would need much more gravel, otherwise you will be down to dirt when you grade.

Lookin good! I admire your work ethic!

That's what I was thinking. Right now I'm kind of putting the bare minimum to make it level and get over the roots that stick out. I may go back later and add more, but that'll only be once I've gone around the entire trail.

Thanks for the kind words.

I don't really care a lot about the appearance of my trails' surface, so mowing periodically is good enough for me. If the nice, clean look is what you are after, then herbicide is what you'll need. You may do spot spraying or make a skirted spray boom to do the entire trail surface.
I don't know about NS, but here in PEI herbicides are very expensive unless you have an applicator's license.

Here's another question; with all the sweat equity, do you think this walking trail (once done) would add some value to my house?... not that I plan to ever leave. LOL

It may not add equity but for the right person that's wanting to buy it could seal the deal much quicker at a higher price.

I agree with what sld said. Somebody who is seriously interested in the property will be more likely to buy if they can stroll through it and appreciate its attractions without having to crash through the brush...a balance of wild and civilized!

With my trail, in the areas where it is twice the tire track width, the vegetation stays down. This is because I drive different path every time, sometimes through the middle, sometimes to the right or left. This keeps from forming ruts and keeps the soil/gravel compacted enough where weeds won't take. Where the trail narrows, I get ruts with weeds in between. Use it a lot!

I agree with the post above. Your trail may not add much in value but will help seal the deal for the right buyer.

At the edge of the berry patch clearing looking back towards the house.

Lots going on here; tree house, blueberry bush, gravel, and my "tractor". LOL

Not looking too bad if I do say so myself!

DONE!

Ended up being 31 trailer loads. I'd say an easy 4 were left at the dump spot.

My buddy came over and helped me move so rocky gravel someone brought. Probably got a dozen loads moved with the bike onto the trail, and he spread the rest on the campground.
