I've got a 05, B7800 HSD with a 100 or so hours on it . Started noticing a problem with hydraulic priming after a filter change and a top off of UDT last winter, I figured it was the 25 degree temps.
My question is when checking the fluid, engine off, nothing is on the dip stick on first check and then reads at the top level on recheck.
Should this be checked with the engine running like most car transmissions?

Common question-the second reading is correct.Engine off and FEL lowered is the correct procedure.Something about vacuum sealing allowing the fluid to not show on the dipstick. Many posts through the years about this.
