propane hot enough?

Propane weed burner claims 3000 degrees and looks like it puts out a pretty impressive flame. Would this supply enough heat as to be helpful bending metal?

The weed burners have a lot of propane flow but it is over a wide area. In my expieriences there is not enough velocity or oxygen input to replace a Rose bud for instance. You can surely heat metal but how hot do you want to get it. We used to use them to pre heat large Aluminum Castings prior to welding them. You won't get a railroad rail red hot if that is what you are asking.

I agree with yomax4; the weed burners put out a lot of BTUs but it is spread over a large area. I've used them to burn paint off metal and to preheat for welding but to get a piece of metal red hot you need a more concentrated flame. I've used this to heat metal before with pretty good results.

Propane Torch with Three Burners

It's no rosebud but I was able to heat some .25X2.5 flat to red hot. I have an adapter that lets me hook it up to a 20 lb tank (I think that is the weight, it's one like you would use on a backyard BBQ). Usually I just use my rosebud but if you don't have a oxy/act torch the one I linked to above is a pretty good option to heat metal.

The 3 burner torch look very interesting. I have all I need for a propane/oxygen set-up except the propane tip insert and the oxygen tank. I can not seem to find a used tank anywhere and Iteally don't want a super small one like H. Freight sells.
