Wow! Definitely to cold.. I'm amazed that he just left it that way..

Pete

He left them because he thought nobody was watching. Thought he could get away with being lazy. Per my advice, the owner retained a welding inspector and he failed every single weld. It was something like 750 beads that had to be ground out. The welder got sent back to the shop and was 途e-educated? This is the part where I really lost a lot of respect for union welders: when he came back he wasn稚 any better. They called the instructor out and he told him to è¿*un three beads? As if three beads of bird crap welds would have any more strength!

In the end, the welding inspector got him straightened out and they were able to lay some acceptable welds. Took four guys three months to replace the defective welds and the company lost their shirt on the job.

750 beads?? Holy crap! :mur:

Any previously qualified person should have mastered that in FAR LESS than 750 beads....and obviously before they got there...

My vertical welds look like that usually. The difference is that I've only tried to weld vertically twice. I would expect that even I would have produced a pretty good weld by bead number 749.
