After many yrs of ownership, my first problem showed up this past week.

Fuel tank is ~half full & when the tractor is first started, gage reads correctly. Doesn't take long, a few mins, and gage drops at least a quarter tank. Remains there for as long as the tractor is in use. Next time tractor is used, same actions. Has happened the last 3-4 times I've used the tractor this past week.

I've yet to start digging in to the problem but off the top of my head I can't think of a reason for this kind of action. No other gages have an issue. I guess the one possibility is the gage itself. Some kind of thermal problem. When gage is first turned on, all is OK but as it warms up, possibly something is happening to the heating element (that is assuming these gages work using a design that has a small heating element that causes a bi-metalic element to bend).

Anyone ever experience something like this or know someone who has? Would be interested in hearing it as it could help focus my attention when I start to tackle the problem.
