Hello,

I checked the pressure on my bx and observed 1600 psi. Attempted to add a 0.4 shim and now the pressure gauge is jumping to 2500 psi. Removed shim that was added and retested only to see it again at 2500 psi.

Did I put the pressure relief back in wrong? Any suggestions ? Thank yiu

I Have done this process several times. You did something wrong. 1600 PSI seems pretty low for a working unit that is factory set for +/- 1800. Is your tractor new? Each MM added is approx 39 PSI. The WSM mentioned below has a view of the assembly also and a complete explanation of the system. Attached is a view of the relief valve parts from the parts manual; make sure it is assembled right. I learned as a kid to lay parts out they way they are disassembled; never failed me yet except now I take a picture of it.

If you are serious about doing this type mechanical work on your BX; I recommend you get the workshop manual (WSM) and the parts manual from your dealer (only official source). Less than $200. CCI05142016_0001.jpg

Thank you. I had originally pulled the entire relief valve assembly out, including the seat (080). My suspicion is that the issue is with 080. There are holes in the seat that I believe we're not lined up to the passages in the housing. Unfortunately the seat is now stuck in the housing and I've had difficulty extracting it.

Yours might have been like mine... I bought the shims, went to unscrew the pressure relief and found it wasn't tight so instead of adding shims, I just tighten the pressure relief down and got it to be 100 psi over the max.

You might have only needed to tighten vs. adding more shims...:2cents:

Thanks for the thoughts. I pulled all shims and still see 2500 psi. To learn more, I pulled the poppet (090) and spring to confirm no pressure would build ( it did not).

I did notice the spring "sticks" just a little bit when removing it. I inspected the spring and did not see any obvious damage or deformities. Could I have over tightened the plug and therefore deformed the relief seat, causing it to interfere with the function of the spring? This would also explain why I am now having trouble removing the seat?.

Question on increasing BX HYD pressure I have never answered: "how high have folks raised their pressure? I went to 2000 PSI and no problems. Increased my lift quite a bit and seemed to speed up actions some.

Hello there. I know this thread is just about3 1/2 yrs old but, I am having the exact same issue/problem. My question is: did you ever get the seat out? If yes, how did you do it?? Thanks in advance for any help and or suggestions!

Iv'e been watching this thread because I must of jammed the seat in mine and it wont move. I got a new seat before I tried anything. Tried corkscrew type tools I used to use to get lifters out of Chevy motors, no good, blind bearing tool with slap hammer, type used for pilot bearings. Got it to bite but still won't move. Ended up removing all shims and carefully grinding and filing 0.100 MM/.040 " off the spring. My pressure is 1850 hot and hasn't changed for the last 10 hrs of on and off use. The relief valve is functioning within spec so I'm going to leave it alone for now or until my pressure changes. The only option I can see at this point is a new pump, looks like lots of labor and $700 for parts. I do have the insurance but I wouldn't count on that to be covered since it was my fault not Kubotas.

Going out on a limb here but most of the time, You can just tighten the pressure relief valve to increase the pressure enough. They are not all tighten to the max. My tractor needed less than a half turn to be a 100 psi over the max.
