Probably Won\'t win a Beauty Contest...

But, they do look very utilitarian design.

Trackless Vehicles - you may have seen one working in or around your city doing odd jobs. I doubt if the common man could afford something like this.

There is a very similar looking machine used to clear our town's sidewalks.

I think if it wasn't for the taxpayers dollars being spent foolishly, we wouldn't see any of them around. They, I have been told, are very high maintenance.
But they avoid the municipalities having to get green, orange, blue or whatever which upsets different people, albeit any of the choices would be cheaper and more easily maintained. Spec one of these out, and not very many different companies can bid on the specs.
Just my .02 worth of opinion.

I'll bet you're right about the bid specs. As far as I know, they all have to bid, and I'd think that a "plain old tractor" would be hard to beat on the bottom line.

I was going to say I haven't really seen one until you mentioned that... but yeah, me too! Our town uses a similar-looking machine to plow snow, but as far as I know, it's only used in the winter to plow snow.
