Private Message Alerts ???

The last couple Private Messages I received I have almost missed because the New Message Alert does not come on when I open the Forums page. This is new. Maybe since I switched to Chrome a while back but really don't know. Do I have to reset a setting of some kind ???? I run Chrome and Window 8.something. I do get an email but they get lost in all my wife's stuff. I hardly ever look there. Thanks

I have NEVER received PM alerts....wish I did.

Well no help for this computer challenged sole I guess. It used to be that a new message would cause a bright balloon just below the alerts icon to light up. No more. Even if I have a new message and I click on the alerts icon a box drops down that says "NO NEW MESSAGES". Doesn't seem right to me. If anyone knows how to fix this let me know. Thanks

OK - I have received PM's but the only "Warning" is a small drop down message directly below the "alerts" icon. As I remember it says - " 1 message". I'm running Mojave 10.14.1 and access TBN on either Safari, Opera, Vivaldi or Google Chrome. The only difference between any of the four search engines is cosmetic.

On mine, a big msg center box pops up in the middle of the screen saying I have a msg..
BUT when I go up to the msg icon, its says>> NO new msg's.. so I click on the msg center anyway & yup, theres a new msg..
