Heres the situation on this tractor im looking at.

An older man, in his early 80's has a Ford 5000 with a front end loader on it. The tractor has 2100 hours on it. 8 Speed diesel with power steer. Ind PTO. The tractor has been parked and out of use for almost 2 years now. One day the man used the tractor , parked it,,,and 2 weeks later went out to use it and couldnt get it to crank. He Said some of the "fluids" were leaking and mixing together. The tractor will need to be worked on to get running again as it does not crank now but owner says the hydraulics work great, everything works great except what he mentioned about the leaking and the tractor not cranking. The tractors tranny was replaced 6 months before this. Also the back tires are Brand new and he has included a heavy framed disc harrow as a nice gesture with the purchase of the tractor. Not sure on the size of the harrow but there are 10 disc on the back and 8 on the front. Harrow has some surface rust that would need to be taken off and some of the disc would most likely need to be replaced. From reading this what would be a good price for this tractor and harrow combo!

Buying a dead tractor with oil in the water or water in the oil is risky. Shoot him a little above salvage value. $2500 3000 maybe for everything and hope it is a blowed head gasket and not a cracked block? Ken Sweet

I agree.. which fluids were leaking.. makes a big difference? if oil in water or water in oil.. might be an expensive lump of cast iron to deal with.

trans, hyds and diffy intermixing?

The man selling the tractor is very old and kinda forgetful but he said he's pretty sure it was hydraulic fluid in the oil.

Keep in mind with quotes to factor in the 8ft heavy duty disc harrow

I know for sure it has power steer

could just be the front seal in the power steering pump which is very common and would need to be fixed before using the tractor i would say its worth atleast 5000 which is about 1500 over salvage

that pump might have to be replaced if the housing is cut.

I think you can find a pretty good running 5000 for $5000.
