I would go with the midmount mower only if I could not make a rear finish mower work for me. If cut quality and manuverabilty are big issues, your kinda stuck with a midmount.

That's about the same price I was quoted on a midmount mower when I purchased my 3010.. I went with a Woods RD7200 rear discharge mower for $1500.. There is no clumping and is sold and made as a finish mower-not a bushog.
The advantages of a belly are not having to look back and you can mow a little closer to things. I am not sorry I went with the Woods.

mm mower doesn't work with R4s on this model.
If you want R4s you'll need the rear mounted finishing mower..
72 or 84 inch.

If you want mmm you'll need turf or ag tires

very limited # at this $

As I have posted before, I have a B7100 with mid-mower and a B2150 with rear finish mower and FEL. With newer model mowers, I don't believe that quality cut will be an issue (I have heard about clumping problems with older model rear-discharge mowers).

There are certain times/conditions that I like the mid-mower better and times/conditions when I like the rear mower better. You'll really have to ask yourself the question of "what will I be doing with the tractor when I'm not mowing, and will the mid-mower be in the way?". The mid-mower would get in the way of FEL work at least 50% of the time for me, so I'm glad that I don't have a mid-mower on the tractor with the FEL.

Conclusion: For my usage conditions, if I HAD to choose between the two types of finish mowers I would go with the 3-point hitch mower. It is easier to get on and off for maintenance and when it is in the way. However, if 80% or more of my tractor usage was finish mowing, I would probably prefer the mid-mower.
