Whatever you get from the $1.50 a pound bin will probably work a lot better than the MISSING one described in the original post.

Dunno who is "responsible" for the absent part.
Presumably it doesn't break if it ain't there ???

You may have a point there.

IF the shoulder bolt part number is KMW05461102, dealer COST is $4.44. Very difficult to make a profit selling them at $1.50! Retail is $6.66 (I don't like the looks of that number). $10.00 does seem to be a gouge. Just my $.02

If I had to order them on a daily order and I had nothing else on the order, UPS shipping to my dealership in NY would have been at least $7.00, selling them at $6.66 would have been a loosing proposition. Not even thinking about the time involved to look up and make the order, recieve the order, bill out the product. Time does cost money as most employees do not work for nothing. I am just trying to add a little more insight on this matter. And by the way, Dave is correct, If I knew the size and hardness of the original bolt, and I had it in stock in bulk, I would give it to the customer at no charge. It would creat good will and if I were to bill it out, the time would cost more than the profit margin.

I agree that the prices on parts for Mahindra are way out of line! How does one justify a $64 air filter?

I agree with you. Prices are higher and wages aren't. Too many guys at the tops of these companies want to make their millions/billions without working a lifetime for it.

It's too imbalanced, prices have to come down or their greed will shoot them in their own foot. We will all learn how to do without them or their products.
That being said... we have to do what we have to do to keep our tractors running!

Let that $64 air filter go bad, and check the price of an engine! More seriously, most of the filter prices have come down in the last couple of years, and some were reasonable to start with. What I don't understand is why some filters are double the prcie of others...can't be just the materials. We service all brands, and many brands have pricey filters. I think when a model gets popular enough to attract an aftermarket filter, that drives down the OEM price. For example, if Baldwin makes an exact match of an air filter for $28, it would be hard for an OEM to charge $60.

Price gouging is relative; if there are alternatives that you do not pursue then you are paying for convenience---no one is making you purchase the OEM parts unless, as in the case of a filter, purchasing non-OEM may void the warranty if it is still in effect. Or they may spec a non-standard filter to capture the aftermarket sales just like on copiers, faxes and printers---you get the machine for dirt cheap then pay an arm and a leg for the cartridge. You need to do your homework up front or just consider it the cost of maintaining your equipment. I've purchased filters in bulk online at a signficant savings. I had an oil pressure sending unit go out on my 4500 that I paid $40 (if I recall) from the M&M dealer and I know if I had the time I could have found a replacement at the local auto supply for $10. Again, "if I had the time....."

I know of one Mahindra hydraulic filter that NAPA has a replacement for, that the NAPA filter is higher priced than the Mahindra filter.

I agree that the filter needs changed to protect the engine, but I operate my machine mostly in the fields mowing etc...that is hard on a filter im my opinion. Dusty conditions and you can go through a new filter quick. I did purchase a Baldwin filter for it, and I thought it was better than the stock one at half the cost. Needless to say I traded in my Mahindra and bought a Bobcat (I needed a bigger machine). Prices from what I have seen are more in line with my budget. I am in no way bashing Mahindra, I liked my 2615, but I just never understood the cost of simple items.
