I just happened to go back and read the original post. He says it is a "Shoulder Bolt" I challenge anyone to go to a Tractor Supply and buy a Shoulder bolt, in addition, probably metric, and specific hardness from a $1.50 per pound bin. This bolt had to do with a loader, so the bolt needs to meet manufacturers specifications for this loader to be covered under warranty. If this hardware store bolt breaks causing untold damages, who is responsible? I don't have a ax to grind either way on this matter, just a couple observations. Ken Sweet

Was waiting to see who really read the OP. "Shoulder Bolt" but that still probably doesn't make it worth 10 bucks unless it would be 2" diameter x 8" long.

$1.50/#? I never suggested it. This is NOT a load carrying bolt. It's a pivot for the quick attach levers. It carries zero weight.

It's NOT worth $10 by any stretch.

I'm done.

I agree with Bob! It's not worth $10 and I too replaced the same bolt with a hardware store bolt on my 3316 hst loader. I'm gonna check the price just for kicks. We'll see if it's dealers or KMW/Mahindra.

When I saw shoulder bolt I knew it would be high. I priced a shoulder bolt for a Kubota BX mower deck for the wheels. I think it was around $10.

I replaced the Allen head shoulder bolt that the skid steer quick attach levers use to connect to the spring latch pin. Bought it at a Fastenal store for $2 or $3 IIRC. Not available at ACE, Homedepot, or Lowe's; had some at my work but with too long of shoulder..... Now they are secured with Locktite..... I posted about same somewhere on here. Was not metric.

You found a shoulder bolt at Fastenal that had the right diameter and length shoulder. :drink: The store in my area is not that well stocked on "specials", and prices are high. A true stroke of luck. Makes your day. McMaster Carr wouldve charged as much, and then shipping.

I lost the metric bolt in my 3710 Kubota several years ago. It was about 5" long, about 5/8 diameter (metric equivalient) and a small ring welded on the head so it was easier to screw in and out. The price 8-9 years ago was $56 plus shipping. Bought my own for about $4 and weld on a ring. Painted it and done. If you don't like the parts prices, there are other alternatives for the simple stuff.

It's all about what is in stock. It is a rare thing that we charge anything to a regular customer for a bolt we have in a bin, unless it is special, then it's generally just a couple of bucks. But if there is a special sort of bolt that we do not stock, and we order just one or two, we will pay a couple of bucks for the bolt, plus inbound shipping of about $8-$10, unless it comes via a stock order where it rides along cheap. So the actual item isn't the real cost, it is getting it in stock. I bet the dealer would have $9 in that one bolt. So he should sell it as $2, plus $8 freight? That wouldn't sit well either.

The only way everyone wins is for the dealers to carry everything a person might need via regular stock orders, but it is tough to know just what someone will break. Experience helps.

I think that by the time most of us get it figured out, were done. :(

Whatever you get from the $1.50 a pound bin will probably work a lot better than the MISSING one described in the original post.

Dunno who is "responsible" for the absent part.
Presumably it doesn't break if it ain't there ???
