I generally do not buy from harbor freight except for certain items.Anyway I have been looking at their pressurized 110 lb sandblaster. The tank seems to be OK.Well what I was thinking was purchasing their tank and then going out and getting a better deadman valve for it.Seems like I might beable to save some money and still have quality so to speak.Has anybody here bought a HF sandblaster unit ????

I had one, i could never get it to work right. Always would clog up and was slow. I ended up building one that works much better. just my 2cents

I had a friend that wanted one, so he brought me two old freon tanks and I built one for him and one for me. Basically out of scrap. They work OK you need to baby them some, but no more often than they get used we are both happy.

I purchased one over 10 years ago. It does work. But, there are a few things to keep in mind. 1. It does require quite a bit of air. 2. The sand or other blast media, must be dry, or be prepared for lots of frustration. 3. It uses a lot of blast media.

With regard to blast media. If the blasting is done on an area allowing the media to be reclaimed, sift out the garbage, and re-used, helps having to purchase a bunch.

Check out TPtools web site. They will be a good source for media blasting equipment, parts, blast media, etc..

I bought one from HF and could not get it to work. A friend with a body shop has one for small stuff and told me that it only works right with one type of sand grade and I forget which one he said. ??? It was numbers like 25/80 or something like that. He said his supplier sent the wrong sand once and it kept stopping up.

I have the 110# blast tank from HF and have discovered that if I run the lower valve (sand tank) at half volume and turn it off before closing the deadman, I do not have the clogging issues. Still a PITA, but it works.

As another poster noted, it needs A LOT of air and goes through media quickly.
