My wife has had IBS and Acid Reflux both for about 6 years.
She's been hopsitalized about 4 or 5 times with it.
It is very painful and makes her very sick when it flairs up like that.
My wife and I are glad to hear that Kelsey is doing better.

My son was diagnosed with severe acid reflux from the age of 7. He had the "barium swallow" test and they put him to sleep while they went down his throat with a scope and it took pictures of his esophagus. The pictures showed a great deal of erosion. He has been on medication since then and it has helped him out tremendously. I agree with everything the doctors told you about what to avoid....and include tomatoes on that list also. What I do want to tell you is that APPLES are wonderful for severe acid reflux. So, if Kelsey likes apples then bring them on!

Sounds like your wife has a bad case of IBS & Acid-Reflux... I really hope she gets better & I will remember her in my thoughts and Prayers!

My daughter is still pain free from the other problem that she was having, and we still don't have no other tests scheduled for that.

That's a early age to have acid-reflux, and i will pray for him that he will get better each day!

My daughter has already had the light and they stretched her esophagus also.. They did it in the same day when they put her to sleep.

They tried the other test where they put the tube up the nose and done the throat, but she had pain and the nurse stopped the test... She will be having the "barium swallow" test next week on the 16Th.

She isn't eating anything with tomatoes...There is so many foods that can make acid-reflux flair up, and all the foods that she likes she can't eat them now.

I wonder if "yellow tomatoes" would make acid-reflux flair up ?.....They say that yellow tomatoes don't have the acid like the red ones.

I didn't know that about apples...We have a apple orchard and we make apple butter, jelly, apple sauce & we can a lot of apples...and yes she likes apples, but she hasn't been eating that much of them... But we will try it and see if they help her.

Another thing that's great for your throat is "honey"....Has your son tried that ??

Yes Praise the Lord!!!

She is still pain free from all the body pain that she was having!!!

We can really tell a big difference in her, and she just needs to watch what she eats so the acid-reflux doesn't flair up.

Her having two different problems and seeing two different doctors has really kept us busy with these tests, and we still don't know what was wrong with the body pain that she was having.

I do know that yellow tomatoes have less acid than red tomatoes so you could see how Kelsey responds to them. My son doesn't like tomatoes at all, at least not yet. He loves honey. I put it on boiled carrots and he loves that. I'll have to look into the medicinal benefits of honey--thanks for sharing. I don't know any other kids that have acid reflux as bad as my son.

Another thing that really helps is if you elevate the portion of her bed where she lays her head. We've done that since he was a baby because he used to spit up a LOT. It definitely helps.

Please let us know how her test goes next week. She should have no discomfort at all. Barbara

When I was about 14 years old I had terrible stomach pain. It went on for about a year and the doctor said it was ulcers. I had to stop eating acidic foods like fruits. Also, no soda or other "junk."

It was awful for about a year or so, they thank Heaven I grew out of it. I sure hope that happens to your children too.

Hope and Prayers are paying off. It's so great to hear Kelsey is getting better.
