Powermaster 821 leaking

Hi all, new to the site. After sitting all winter up here in michigan I notice a big pool of hydrolic oil pooled under my tractor. It痴 coming out of a cover plate on the bellhousing. The weep hole pin is not in place anymore which I didn稚 know was a thing until reasearching this issue. I took the plate off and it痴 drainging the oil water and sludge. Just to double check this area should be completely dry correct? Do I have a bad shaft seal/bearing leaking into this area from the trans?

Hi Fred,
So everyone is clear, does your 821 have rear lift arms. The pic you posted looks like where the hydraulic lines come out of the center casting and head to the pump through a manifold.
Does this tractor have a hydraulic pump?

The CNH website lists the 821 as having hydraulics, so I am confused.

The leak is around where the trans meets the engine.

Does your tractor have an hyd. pump up front driven by the crankshaft? Can you post a pic of your pump and a pic of the right hand side of the motor?

Yes has a pump up front that’s what the fel works off of. The frame of the fel is the holder of the fluid though. I attached pics of both sides of the engine.

Here is what I am thinking, and I hope one of the senior Ford Guru's chime in if I am wrong.
I am going to add 2 pics to this post. The first will be the one you posted of the RH side of your motor. The area I circled is where a Ford factory Hyd pump normally mounts to the motor. There is a manifold that drops from the pump down to the circled area of the second pic. That manifold carries fluid through 2 tubes. The tubes are sealed to the manifold with "o" rings. Given the fact that the 821 comes without factory hydraulics, they must have to plug those tubes with that plate I see in your pic. I am thinking that there still must be "o" rings to seal against that plate.
Are there any "o" rings there? If there are, are they torn?
Make any sense?

Yes there are 2 o-rings behind the triangle plate they are not torn but who knows how old they are. That 2nd pic was taken when I loosened the bolts it started coming out faster then the drips when it was closed. Isn’t this supposed to be a dry area though or are you say the plate and rings act as a blockoff and my clutch isn’t really getting oil on it?

Here is the pump you mentioned. So I might just have a couple bad O-rings behind that triangle blockoff plate? Another note is the dipstick on the left side of the tractor by the seat is bone dry. The hydrolic dipstick.

Fred,
On a tractor like yours, with no Factory Hydraulics and PTO, I have to guess that the dipstick you mentioned, should show dry. I am still thinking there should be a drain plug for the center section. I would pull it and see what comes out. It may be oil and water. Let it drain, then pull off that triangular plate. I would not think much will come out. If you drain the center section and you still get oil running out of the tubes behind the plate, it may be transmission oil.
Even though your tractor doesn't have a factory hydraulic pump, I think it may still have the tubes that run from the center housing to that plate. I have read that where the tubes go through the transmission, they can develop stress cracks.
The idea here is to be able to take that plate all the way off to try to replace the o rings.
I am guessing on most of this because both my Ford 641 & 861 have factory hydraulics.
I hope this makes sense.

Parts #40 & #41 are the 2 "O" rings used when the manifold is used.

It appears you only need to replace the O-rings beneath the block off plate.

I've never seen inside an 821 but I suspect the hydraulic lines were omitted due to lack of 3-point lift? The block off plate was used to prevent gear oil from leaking out of transmission housing.

So I could just take the plate back off pour some hydro fluid in the compartment and watch it come out of the holes there? What’s a good cleaner to flush it before I put new rings and fresh oil back in there?

There really is no reason to flush the center housing since it is not used as a hydraulic sump.

the larger o ring was not protroting out of the cavity all that much. It wasn稚 flush but not sticking out a mm. I had to use a pic to get it out so you can see where I beat it up a bit. If I have trouble finding these I wonder if I can fill the cavity with that gasket maker I致e used on truck differentials and pop these in over it? Kind of Jerry rigged but my IT and Owners manual do not even show this blockout system. Also I had a couple drops of motor oil coming from the one bolt hole. The tip of the triangle towards the middle of the tractor.
