My father has had one since 1965 ish. He bought it new. It's not his main tractor any more but it's still a workhorse. He swapped out the 12 HP engine for a 18 HP dual cylinder model about ten years ago. We had to do some mods to the frame, hood and front grill to make it fit. I see them on ebay all the time, there still seems to be a good market for them.

Here's mine. It's a 1979 1614. It has a 14 Hp Kohler K321 engine driving dual 3 speed transmissions for a total of 6 speeds forward and 3 speeds reverse. The bare tractor weighs in around 1000 pounds + 400 pounds in the rear weights + maybe 500 pounds for loader, bucket, etc. That Kohler gets a good workout. It's surprising what it can do!

I have a 1958 Model 1624 with a Briggs 16 hp. It's still in the process of being restored. I'' post some pictures when I come across them. There is a very active collector community on Yahoo.

I called them a few years ago and at that time they still had on the floor a brand new 4wd one.
It was a few years old at the time.
If I remember right he said it was an 88 model.
There were very few made.
Heck it may have been a prototype.
No pto was the killer for them, along with the compact tractor revolution.

Got a 1960 Power King Economy. Its has a 9hp Briggs. Got it in 05, it came with the front blade, belly mower and a broken connecting rod.
Used it today to haul some leaf mulch to the garden.

I've got a '73' myself. Had to rebuild the hydraulics but it works great. Most likely going to sell it soon as I've got my JD now.

Hey All. I have a 1971 ,PK with 14 hp, dual trans, and several attachments. I remember sitting on my dads lap when he brought it home. It is a powerful machine for its size and it is the benchmark for my mind-picture when I hear of a "garden tractor" for sale.

I've got a 1953 economy king with 9hp engine that I bought last fall. Over the winter I restored it. It is my only tractor and I work it good. I haul around a water wagon 4 times a week and pick rocks with it on Sat. Yesterday I plowed up a small field with it. I like this tractor but if I every come across a 30hp Kubota diesel with a FEL and the price is right....

Right now I'm looking for attachments

I love this thing. The only thing I regret is cutting the floor plate to access the transmission. The trans was sticking between two gears and I did not know how to fix it, so I cut the plate for easy access. Then after a few times I realized how to fix it and welded/ fabricated a new end for the shift lever. Good luck, you'll certainly enjoy it.

My buddy may be getting ready to trade his Kubota. I am not sure what hp; it is at least a 30. I will keep your info and pm you when/if he's ready.

I've got a '73 PK with the 14HP Kohler. Great little tractor. For the first few years owning it I used it with the MMM to mow about 20ac. The last time was when it almost overheated and seized the motor. Saved it and it still runs great. Only problem now is I blew either the diff or one of the transmissions. Until I can get some space to work on it I can't do much with it.
