Not happy about the new Tier IV small diesel engine laws coming into effect later this year? We're not either! We've been in touch with the EPA and our local Congressman to request they repeal it. You can express your concerns to the EPA too. To learn more, go to

I guess they are getting political. Wonder what this means for Deutz, haven't seen a 2011 Tier 4 yet...

I was just looking at the Deutz site. I guess they have them but the configuration is all water cooled. Probably means all the Diesel lineup is going to go through a redesign of some sort or another. In my head about darn time but I don' mind Tier 4.

All of the other diesel engines have been converted, so I doubt that there are sympathetic ears around in DC.

It would appear to do away with the 1445, or result in an extra 15HP for the 1445. D2.2=35HP, TD=60HP, TCD=75HP, which I think correspond to naturally aspirated, turbocharged, and turbocharged with a charge air cooler. The power curves below get to max HP at a lower rpm, and keep it up over the 2200-3000 rpm range, so for many uses you wouldn't need WOT. The weight appears to be about the same.

All the best,

Peter
