I had a power steering leak when I bought this tractor (MF-135 1972 model) recently. The fluid was coming from around the steering wheel shaft at a bolt hole for mounting the instrument panel. I replaced the seals and o-rings at the top of the steering column and everything seemed great. A few days later I took the tractor for a short ride and everything great. The next day I installed a new tach, started up the tractor, and steering fluid was pouring out of the vent at the top of the steering rack. Has anyone else had this happen? What do you think went **** up?

I had a similar thing happen to a similar tractor. It turned out the bottom bearind was failing in the steering unit. It allowed the input shaft to walk and really made it a mess. I pulled it all out from the top of the unit.

Thanks for the input. I had already replaced the seal in the top of the unit but thought the lower seal was ok. A couple of guys around here think that the repaired upper seal increased the pressure on the lower seal and caused it to give way ... forcing fluid back through the vent/breather. I am replacing the lower seal and we will see. If that is a strikeout then I guess I will check the bearing as you suggest.
