I just got done restoring a Power Pak Hydraulic Dump Leaf/Grass Collection System. I am now doing the engine and am going to replace it instead of spending money on rebuilding it. What is better, the original 5hp Kawasaki engine or the 5hp Honda OHC engine?? It will fit with either one. I am also looking for a pdf owners manual on this. If anyone has one send to 4115deereman@charter.net

Hey Hawk I have one too. I was going to replace mine with a new engine which would have been more cost effective. After looking at all the engine I found out that they would not work( blower right hand shaft standard engine left hand shaft) at least on my blower pak.

Hello Get the CD yet? What do you mean by right hand left hand? Does your impeller thread on?? Mine is on a key way and the original Kawasaki engine has part number FA210D on it. There are some other numbers after the dash but I don't have them now as the engine is at my work. I've seen the new ones with Hondas and this same site has the 5hp OHC Hondas as well. Have a look at the links and let me know what you thank.

So when you state left side right side, Are you looking at the carburetor side?? The link above for the Kawasaki engine is identical to the one I have now. All I would have to do is replace the fuel tank and air intake with the ones I have now and it will work. So would you call the Kawasaki engine in the above link right or left?? Man that CD should be there by now?? Let me know /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I had a 3 bag system with the 5 HP Honda. I sold it and bought a hyd dump system with the kawasaki. I much prefer the Kawasaki engine over the honda. My Honda died in less that two years. It was replaced under warranty , thank goodness. The air cleaner on the kawasaki is much better than the honda, and I think dirt killed mine. Northern tool had a honda that I was thinking about buying until my local dealer helped me out. The only difference was about 1/4" shorter shaft. As best I could measure, it appeared it would still work. The 5HP Honda at Northern tool was one of the cheapest 5 hp engines they had. It seemed that either engine would bolt right up with the blower, housing, gas tank, etc. I bought the hyd dump system with the understanding the Kawasaki would not run and planned to put the Honda on it. It would have worked, but the only problem was some stuck check valves in the Kawasaki fuel pump.

Yes facing the carb. The one I have is a older unit, and the engine is backwards on it. I look into turning it but the carb and filter would hit the frame of the bagger at least from the approx measurement I took.

Hey gstott My engine is hard to start sometime and I have to prime the cylinder then it runs great. So that why I was going to replace it and ended up rebuilding it. But the problem still happens. Do you think it could be a check valve sticking in the fuel pump sometimes.

I haven't got to it yet, but I did get my lights mounted to my rops. Ill do a small post on them later. I would love to get the kit from Deere and spec it out and return it but I asked them if I could try it and return if it didn't work since it isn't specked for the 4115 and they said that if I buy it, It was non re-turnable. I thought I could cheat and measure out the kit and just make it a little bigger to work. I still thank it will work on the 4115 since an earlier post I did came back with the same messurment on the rear axle for the 4110 and the 4115 and since the kit is specked for the 4110 it should work on the 4115. the only difference I have found it the wheel base is a little longer but the mmm bracket or slotted and adjustable. As far as this post goes I managed to get the Kawasaki engine running. Some one took the fuel pump apart and tried to put it back together. Not only was it wrong but it was missing 1 diaphram as well. So I got a rebuild kit ordered for it. I got it working except it also pump gas into the crank case. This is do to the diaphram that is missing. This should be the vacuum part of the system only but it kinda sucks and blows. I better quit on this post while im ahead. Dont want to get in trouble!! OH, I also painted the inside of the blower housing with some ceramic paint we had left over at work. I was shocked to find out that stuff cost $400 a quart but it is

Could be the pump. Mine did the same thing. I could pour a little gas in the spark plug hole and she would fire right up, but cut off after burning the gas. I don't think a kit is available from John Deere, maybe from some other source. If you decide to take it apart, make sure you note how the two outer plates are positioned. I thought I had, but when it came time to put it back together, I got them misplaced, and it would run, but pump the crankcase full of gas. I placed them correctly and all was well. There were two little rubber umbrella shaped valves (the best I remember) that had become stuck to the center plate. Worst case, you may have to buy a pump. They are expensive, but cheaper than an engine. I would suspect if it runs well when cranked, it may not be the pump. Maybe the choke is not working properly?

I filled up the fuel bowl with lighter fluid and it ran great. Plus the fuel pump is missing one of the bladderes so somone has had it apart before. It was also put together in the wrong position causing the gas to flow into the block as you stated. There is a nipple on the 2 pieces that line up and the third piece which caries the vacuum from the block can only go on one of 2 ways as long as you pay attention to the center divider. I got the rebuild off of Ebay for $12 with free shipping and alread got the rest of the unit restored. If I had to buy a fuel pump then I would pass and spend the extra $150 and get the new one. The fuel pump at Deere is $50 and made by mikuni. Heres a pic of the rebuuild kit.

Could you email me the source for your pump kit? I'd like to have a spare for $12! Sounds like you got a deal. Hope it runs great now.
