Tractor
Kioti CK25
Just purchased a CX25 and had the backhoe installed. Prior to the dealer putting on the BH, I had been using the tractor with no problems. Operation of the BH was fine. After I disconnected it to use my box-scrapper, I noticed what sounded like escaping air when I lifted the 3pt. I checked and found nothing. I went ahead and started to scrape my road when in about 5 min the tractor overheated. It had been fine previously working the FL all day. So I called my dealer and he came out, crawled under the tractor and rotated a valve that he added when he put on the BH. No hissing noise, no over-heating. He said the valve is poorly documented and not marked per the instructions (he says this is common with Kioti manuals). He is also a new dealer.

I did a little research and found out this valve is the "power beyond" that came with the backhoe. His manual says its suppose to only move 45% but it spins 360. He adjusted it to where it stopped making noise and I did not have any problems over-heating that day. He came back after talking to Kioti and re-adjusted. Now I have the hissing again, but haven't noticed any over-heating. Soo.....my question....

Thru research (I'm still quessing here), I found out I am "open system". This valve essentially opens the port to the rear attachments. Now...the big mystery.... when open to the rear attachment, does it depend on the open circuit in the device? ie. it closes off its internal loop effectively turning it into a close system on the onboard hydraulics? When my backhoe is off, should I rotate close this valve? what is the proper position for BH on...BH off? (no karate kid jokes please) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif If the valve is open-circuit, I guess that explains the hissing noise...its just the hydraulics running thru it. I don't understand the over-heating unless closing the circuit made the pump overheat.

My dealer came by early when I wasn't home so I dont' have the answers, and he is having trouble getting them from Kioti.

Any help understanding this would be appreciated.

When the backhoe is on open it up all the way
When it is off shut it all the way
The old valve was just a 1/4 turn
Then new ones are a turn till it stops
We paint them orange so the customer can see what we asre pointing at when we explain on how to remove the backhoe
Also if you do not take on and of you backhoe much you may want to buy a small 3/8 wrench it will help you turn the valve after it stiffens up.

Why is it hissing again after being readjusted ??
It shouldn't be. I would want it adjusted to where it is not hissing. Which will overheat the oil and cause more wear and tear on the pump !!
My opinion

I followed Wallaces advice and closed it all the way (which is all out, not all in btw). Seemed fine. Went and hooked up the BH and screwed it all the way in. Now my BH seems to be much spunkier! Its really bizarre how this valve is not mentioned in any of the manuals! My dealer said I shouldn't have to mess with this valve, but then again, it was not what his shop manuals said it should be. He is a new dealer so he is learning this along with me.

This is something that really should be addressed in both the tractor owner's manual and the manual for the backhoe. While I did do a rewrite for the CK25/30 owner's manual, it was basically only to correct the Korean/English translation, not to create portions that were not there, with the exception of an appendix on shuttle shift and HST transmission use.
As is the case with many foreign product manuals, there is a lot to be desired with all of the Kioti manuals.
I'm happy that you found out how to manage this valve before you did any real damage to the tractor. Any dealer doing a BH installation should be making sure the customer knows where it is, and how to use it.
If you were to decide that you wanted to hook up any other implements to that power beyond, you can, just make sure you handle the valve the same as with the BH.
On my CK20, the lever is on top of the main valve, and is pretty easy to access. If I forget to move it back to the 6:00 position from the 3:00 after removing the BH, the loader won't go up, the engine doesn't run well, so I know what it is as soon as I have restarted.
Once again, our friend Wallace was right in there with great information.

John,
This valve is really inconventiently located on the CK25. Its up on the top, right side of the transmission in front of the 3pt arm. It almost looks like its keyed so that it would accept a valve handle. It also looks like it might be a good mod to put an extension rod on this and bring it out to the wheel well for easier access. For now you have to get under the tractor and reach way up to get to it. Not a fun task in the dirt /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks

The valve is in a bad location. We machined a knob for one of our customers which made it much easier to turn. There is a instruction sheet that came with the valve kit that tells how to operate the valve. The knob that we installed allows you to reach the valve from the back of the tractor.

Do you happen to have any pics or drawings? How much would you charge to manufacture and ship one? Sounds like you might have a good side biz selling these on this site! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hrmm let me see if i can come up with a picture. The knob is installed on a customers tractor who is on TBN pretty often. I'll get in touch with him and see how it is working.

Well i thought i took some pictures but can't find them... I will keep looking.
