Tractor
Kioti LB2204
Hi there

Looking forward to getting involved with this community, and thank you in advance for tolerating a question from a newbie.

I have just bought my first tractor, a Kioti LB2204 with a front loader that is probably about 35-40 years old. In great condition and low hours but obviously parts and documentation is a bit scarce. I am pretty competent with vehicles generally, even hydraulics, but trying to figure out the connections for my Power Beyond valve to run a log splitter and other attachments from the rear of the tractor.

I have identified that the loader control unit has a PB outlet and that already has a connection to it (first photo.) The pipe from that connection seems to just route straight back to the hydraulic pump (middle connection on the second photo.) I had assumed it would just be a hose that is capped off and the fact that it is routing back to right where it came from is confusing me.

Is this just so that it creates a closed loop system when there is no implement attached? I'm assuming that to use the PB output then I disconnect this hose from the hydraulic pump, connect it to my implement and then route the output from the attachment back to the hydraulic pump (or in some cases like a post pounder route it back to the tank fill point for fast egress of oil.)

Is that how this all works, or am I missing something?

Thanks all

Mark

Mark,
How many hoses or lines connect to your loader valve? 6 or 7?

Does your tractor have 3 point hitch? I can’t tell for sure on the picture but that “middle” line may be feeding the 3 point valve and not connected to pump.

Most likely in an open center system the power beyond from the loader valve is then used for the 3 point lift and then to the sump.

If you want power something else backhoe, etc you can use that line route it into your new valve and then power beyond port there to your 3 point valve you may need to provide another dump to the sump from your attachment (varies). You should have a dump port from the loader valve to the sump all ready.

Others here know much more than I do

Actually, I think you have it backwards. The power beyond port on the loader valve connects back into the lift system. The port that hose you mentioned connects to is not the pump, it's the lift system. The pump (supply/pressure) line will connect to the other side of the loader valve. The "in" port on most valves will be closest to the relief valve.

You are on the right track though, as that would be the line to interrupt for additional hydraulic functions. Just use the PB port as supply and the PB return from your additional valve(s) will go to the port where this hose is now. The sump return is yet to be determined. It's probably a port on the manifold (or whatever it's called) that you have pictured. Once you determine which line that is, you can add a tee wherever it best fits and connect your new valve sump line to it.

Did some random dude help you load a scraper blade with pallet forks? My neighbor just sold one of those recently.
