Just wondering if anyone has run a 3 point post hole digger off a J-series and how did it perform.
Thks Jack.

Jacob59, I don't know what a J-series is but, I put a post hole digger on a bx2200. It was a Lienbaugh 7200 JR. It was not a good idea. It did work but, if the auger caught a root or rock it would suck down so fast you couldn't control it and then the auger was stuck but the bx2200 didn't have enough lifting power to pull out the auger. This happened a lot. The answer of course is to drill a little and then lift up, then dig some more and lift auger and then finish the hole. Be ready to put 100% concentration at all times on the auger depth and still it will get away from you now and again. Also had to learn to carry a large pipe wrench with me. Auger stuck and can't lift it means putting the wrench on the auger and backing the auger out of the hole. :yell: It's a great workout but if I was looking for exercise I wouldn't have bought the PH digger. :tractor: This was all done with a 6" auger. If you slow the auger down to prevent getting stuck it doesn't dig as well. :confused3:

Bottom line is you need enough hp to lift the auger as deep as it will go and still turning. :2cents:

Thanks DB. I, m going put up a pole barn. I'll probably just rent one. I've had good success with them.

Renting sound like a good idea if there isn't more work to do with it.
I was thinking of buying one but not sure when, where or which one, looking at the eta Unit for a Compact Tractor.

Just a comment, I have never used one but all of the videos I have seen on the subject suggest to dig a foot and pull it out, start again. That was going to be my method when and if... luckily I don't have a lot of tree roots, just rocks.

Good luck and post what and how you make out.

Yeah, I bought one from Ted @ Everything Attachments. Great unit for the money with even a nicer guy to talk to, BTW.
My 2 cents worth:
Once I was done with it, some 18 months ago, it's not seen the light of day since.

It's kind of the same thinking with buying a backhoe or a stump grinder. For all the times I would need one here, it's much more sensible to rent it and let somebody else have the maintenance and storage headaches. Not to
mention the capital tied up with it.
Yep, there's $700 sitting up over there. Ain't it pretty?😖😩
