So I mounted the post hole auger on the tractor this weekend for the first time. It was a bit of a struggle. Does anyone have a picture of a stand you're using to make this a bit easier.

3 point with PTO or FEL mount with hydraulic motor?

How do you guys like the PTO post hole augers? I am kicking around the idea of getting one. I've read mixed reviews on them.

I just drilled a hole about halfway down for my danuser phd (the thing is VERY heavy) and unhooked it and leave it there. When I want to use it I just back up to it and hook it back up. There must be a problem with this because I always see people building elaborate contraptions but so far it has worked for me.

I dislike mine. The FEL option has some advantages. Down Pressure is a big help in hard ground. The other advantage is being able to go forward and reverse. The biggest thing is how easy the FEL models are to hook up compared to the 3 point with PTO. I would not buy another one unless it was hydraulic and mounts on the FEL. My 2 cents.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to post and share some links I hadn't seen.

I've done my from a tree branch, some rafters and just drilled it into the ground in the past. This is my current setup.

There are lots of ways to do it. Mine works really well and is fast and very little effort to hook up, with the casters on the bottom it rolls right into place. I did not make it, it was sitting on the side of the road on garbage day, so I grabbed it. I believe it was for a store or drycleaner or something, for hanging garments on. Could easily be made out of plywood and 2x4's though.

I hung mine too with a winch for easy adjustment.

Sorry, coming in this thread late but I wasn't able to get a picture of my stand until yesterday. I park my PHD like Eddie W. has his, suspended from overhead with a board. Imho, this setup works the best as it allows easy movement in any direction to help you get it lined up.
