:confused2:Hi fellas, I have a dilemma and am hoping someone can help me. I have a JD-1070 tractor and want to use a Kinghitter 3pt post driver (series one). John Deere originally sold a Power Beyond Kit or Rear Auxiliary Link Kit (no longer available). Does anyone have the link kit they want to sell?

I'm told from the dealer selling the post driver that the unit only needs one hose for hydraulics. There is a hydraulic holding tank on the driver.

I do have three levers on my fender two are used for my loader. the third lever is not used and is plumbed with quick disconnects at the rear of my tractor. I'm told I can use this line set and simply use a bungy cord to hold the lever back. Will this work? It seems like it would but I've never done it. And, it seems like a cheesy fix for a long term process. But If I can't buy the Rear Link Kit, what else can I do.

Thanks for any advise, John.

Re: Post Driver

Welcome to TBN John:D

Yes, you can use the existing remote and the bungee cord-no problems at all with that setup. You will need to plumb the drivers return line directly to the tank though since the fluid needs to exit the driver very fast. Some have modified the filler cap on the tank with a barbed fitting to allow for this. It's been discussed quite a few times here in the Hydraulic forum if you search some.

Re: Post Driver

Thank you very much. I'm new to the forum and am learning how it works. It seems like a very good resource when needed.

I have my answer, appreciate the help! John

I would visit with the parts guy and the shop crew at your local JD dealership and ask about the possibility of adapting a PB circuit from a JD 990.

The two tractors are not drastically different from one another and the circuit may just plumb up fine.

Can't hurt to talk it over with those guys - maybe all that comes out it - is a cup of coffee!

Best of luck.

Might take a look at JDParts for the diagram of the PB circuit for both the 990 and the 1070, too. You might get an answer - without the coffee!

Purchasing and installing a PB setup for the sole purpose of powering a post driver when an SCV is available and unused is quite simply a needless expense, regardless of what the expense actually is. There is simply no benefit whatsoever.

Tsk, tsk - Rick. He didn't like the idea of a cord or bungey. His words -- "cheesy fix for a long term process."

If he didn't want to entertain a visit with his dealer; he might at least get a cup of coffee and maybe some good conversation...

He doesn't have to spend any more than the time and gas to the dealership and since he already owns a JD 1070 - can't hurt to know those folk's better, anyway.

Those were SOME of his words, preceded by "It seems like". Some folks come here to get ideas on the best use of their dollars. Others seem to come here to do the best job of helping to spend other folk's dollars. A bungee cord is totally appropriate in this instance, and costs under a buck. I've got a hard time believing a PB setup from Deere is going to be under $150 or $200. That's a lot of 'cheese' for no advantage. When you seek advise, do you want to be led to the most expensive alternative, or get all the choices and decide for yourself?

There ya go... I just KNEW that you'd figure it out... 'Course ALL the choices usually does start with the most expensive and work down from there.
