A few months ago I read somthing about rumors concerning Bobcat aquiring Deadong. Here in the last two weeks I heard two seperate industry people refer to it again. Has anyone else heard talk of this? I wonder what the implications are if this happened?

Would the company be known as BobDong or DaeCat?

Would Kubota sue if all the Bobcats started showing up in Kioti Orange and Black?

I am also wondering who wins in a battle of mascots: a coyote or a bobcat?

If Bobcat is doing the acquiring, there is no doubt who wins out.

I have heard Bobcat is wanting to aquire another large name in the business (have heard this from several people) but never heard Daedong mentioned.

Wonder if I.R. is looking for a common engine for the Bobcats,Gensets and the Thermo king units. Since Carrier uses Kubota engines, TK uses Yanmar and Bobcat uses Kubota.

We are familiar, in our area, how Ingersol Rand operates. It is like in Pretty Woman--what Richard Gere's character did with companies--only not quite that bad. Six years after buying the local company, stripping it of personnel and trade secrets and anything of value, it sold it again. The company is recovering but what a waste of 6 years and lots of heartache for the employees. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I watched this place send several thousand jobs packing in the last several years. There is no loyalty to employees in this country just the stock holders.

Neil
I have heard similar rumors. I first heard it was Daedong and then heard it was Kukje. I then heard the Kukje deal was dead and all was quiet for a while. In the last month I have again heard the same rumors that IR has or is buying Daedong. Cannot tell if it is old news being regurgitated or if this is a new development. I cannot say any of the recent rumors can be substantiated in any way. I guess we will all have to wait and see what happens. Does make you think though.

We were assured at the Kioti meeting that the rumors of the buy out was discussed BUT Kioti also stated that it was NOT going to happen .

I heard the Donald was considering buying it... Daetrump /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Neil, I've heard that Bobcat is looking to buy an engine manufacturer. Daedong would be a very likely candiate, take a look at the financials of both companies, it is possible. And there is no question that Bobcat could benefit from vertical integration of the company.

It makes alot of business sense to me. It would give Bobcat a tractor line to drop into all their existing equipment stores. They have a brand loyal following so there is no question there would be a market for the machine. Deadong's factories are some of the smallest yet they must have a complete facility so the capital investment would be smaller than trying to takeover a company with more volume like TYM or Mahindra. Personaly, I hope it does not happen because they will become some pretty serious competition overnight.

You got that right. They're already enough competition for many folks around here. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Funny thing. A large BobCat dealer in Omaha is also a very large Kubota dealer. He's the one that said he would "Never" take a Kioti on trade when he asked me what I owned. Wonder if it actually happens, would he be able to sell the two lines together...

Why would he say that he would never take a Kioti on trade?

Geeze, i hope not. I have read some troubling things about Ingersol Rand lately, and if there is any truth to it i would hope that DaeDong thinks it over long and hard. These buy outs can go either way, and as a Kioti owner i would hate to have to deal with "new owners" that are just interested in a bottom line.

From what I heard of it is Bob Cat is looking for a motor line. If Kioti is doing well it will continue to operate independently. But then again that is hearsay, until it happens who knows.
