My SUV jack cant pickup my loaded dump trailer. What do you guys use for a portable trailer jack for use on the road? How do you store it ?

A bottle jack is your strongest most compact option. An aluminum floor jack is a lot easier to use but probably too big to keep in your vehicle.

I keep a bottle jack that has an integrated jack stand along with a pretty wide footprint with me on all road trips--Along with a Dewalt 20v impact wrench

I actually have a hydraulic leg on my BIG off-road dump trailer. Came off a Hyab crane. I put a valve in circuit that switches from the hoist to the tongue jack. Makes hookup much simpler.

DSC00172.JPG Realized I didn't have a picture of this on file and thought it might stir some creative juices.

Tractor has to do double duty pulling this trailer, and pulling a Harley Rake, so it was necessary for me to make the hookup as painless as possible. Being able to raise and lower the jack from the drivers seat is a definite plus.
When connected, a pin is pulled and the jack rotated out of the way and pinned up.

For infrequently used stuff I find Harbor Freight entirely adequate. With most HF stuff that has a weight rating I get stuff rated for double my max expected load though.

Hydraulic bottle jacks work fine. Be real careful that you buy a jack that will fit under the axle or jacking point when you have a flat. If you have leaf springs and they run under the axle then check the height of the jack under the flat part of the spring section under the axle. If your jacking directly on the axle its round shape can cause a issue. I keep a welded up assembly of a right angle iron that is on top of a pipe coupling. The angle iron is upside down so that it fits to the bottom of the axle and the jack goes up into the pipe coupling. Stops slipping around issues. Bottle jacks are available in really short options.

You just saved me from making a huge mistake. Thx

If you are at the side of the road and your flat tire is on the passenger side, you've probably got a little drop off on the shoulder so you have even less clearance than you think. I had to tow a heavy trailer with a flat tire for a ways to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. (I had a standard size 8 ton HF jack) Be sure to get the shorty jack and one that is rated for way more than you need because it will also be easier to pump it on the side of the road.

I made my axle jack adapter similarly. 2 pieces of angle iron welded to a flat plate (I checked spacing so the flat plate would contact the axle also) and I used a really big washer on the other side instead of the pipe, but I like the pipe idea better. Use what you have.
