SPF = Spruce-Pine-Fir

Plain old untreated white boards.

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

That is a great idea. Much cheaper and better looking alternative to the steel panels IMO.

Yeah, I agree with Zuiko. I'd still be worried about longevity but looks wise it is definitely nicer than the steel panels. In fact I had to look at the first picture a couple times to determine that it wasn't a built-in-place permanent structure and really, still can't tell.

Nice job.

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

Just goes to show that if you hang around these boards long enough someone will come up with the solution to your problem. Dave, it's beautiful, and exactly what I need to do to replace my 120 x 240 foot ring. I think I'll make it smaller (we're not doing barrels anymore), I like the size of yours. Great job!

Thanks Kevin, Poppa and Zuiko. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What a coincidence Kevin, that size arena is almost exactly what we plan to build in the future, only 120' x 200' (the wife is obsessed with the 5:3 ratio, so it will be a little shorter than yours).

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

What size rebar (diameter) did you use? How long did you cut them?

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

The re-bar is 48" long before bending. The bend length is probably about 10"-12" overall (including the arc). I was lucky enough to find that Lowes carries bundles of 3/8" x 48" pre-cut rebar, so all I had to do was bend them.

What did you bend them with?

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

You could easily paint the rebar too.
