A little cross-over here.

Put your nuts out on the driveway - drive on them - it will remove the husks

To crack your nuts - lay them on a wooden block - ask your wife to whack them with a meat tenderizer

If you wash your nuts to remove the goo - be sure to lay them out to dry or they may rot

You just wanted to make all of us cringe again.

No - no cringing. I finally read ALL the posts on "How do you dry your nuts" and thought I'd spread some of the humor. Besides its been a nice day here & I'm in a particularly good frame of mind. By the time I got to the last post - I was laughing so hard I almost peed my shorts.

Worms (in produce) don't eat much.

Years ago my wife and I went to a restaraunt and her salad was served with a worm in it. We swore the place off for a couple of years until we figured the management had changed and went back. When we did my salad was served with a worm in it. A least they must have been serving organic prodipuce but we never went back after that.

When I was growing up we had a big garden and my mother put up a lot of produce, canning and freezing for the winter months. One night we were at a friend's house and the two families were eating supper including home grown frozen broccoli. I had a piece on my fork and was raising it to my mouth when I espied a big green worm included in the bite... My fork quickly changed direction but of course being a teenaged boy I had to share my find with everyone else at the table. :D

It was several years before I ate broccoli again but eventually got over it. In fact, tonight's supper included broccoli, which I picked after getting home.

Yumm, speaking of broccoli, reminds me of the soup my father made. Broc from the garden, chicken broth and noodles, oh and a lot of pepper. Didn't taste much like pepper, as it was really aphids... We still ate it.
